Jimmy Reed

Jimmy A. Reed  has been a pastor since 2000, and at the First Baptist Church of Jones since Feb 2016.  He is married to Petrena and has 5 children.  He is the proud grandfather of 4 grand children.

 

He was born and raised in Atlanta, Georgia. January 1, 2000 he retired from the army.

 

Pastor Reed is a big fan of the Georgia Bulldogs, Atlanta Falcons, and Atlanta Braves! Go Dawgs!

Personal: Saved at age 8 in Derby, Kansas -grew up in Kansas, Italy and Oklahoma. In Oklahoma I met and married a Midwest City Bomber named Kyle Lowe, February 17, 1979. We attended and served at Country Estates Baptist Church in Midwest City for 6 years. We moved to Jones and joined the First Baptist Church. We have two wonderful sons, Paul and Nathaniel and an equally wonderful daughter-in-laws and a grandaughter. I have been privileged to serve as secretary at FBC Jones since 2001.

Hobbies: Sewing, cooking, gardening, my screen printing & embroidery business

Interests: Bible, spending time with family and friends. beaches. gardening. silliness. cooking for others. prayer. movie quotes. inside jokes. laughing. spring. summer. good recipes. cats. memories. hymns. cookouts. flowers. irony. staying up late. love. forgiveness. learning. plants,  helping others, fishing

Personal:  Kevon Owen grew up in the Midwest City area, going to Soldier Creek Baptist Church.  He was saved at the age of seven, and called into the ministry at age 19.  Kevon and Ashley were married Oct 13, 2007. In August 2015, they had their first child, Sawyer Layton.  Kevon has a masters degree in counseling, and is in the process of getting his  LPC licensure. Starting in 2016, he will begin work on his doctorate.

Ministry:  Kevon has been at FBC Jones since April of 2008 as the part time youth minister. In 2009 he became our full time youth minister.  Prior to FBC Jones, he was the youth ministry intern at Country Estates Baptist Church. Kevon spent approximately 6 years as a worship leader in the area. 

Hobbies: Spending time with Ashley and Sawyer. Playing with Corban and Molly (the greatest dogs ever!). Hanging out with friends, and of course having fun with those crazy youth.

Mentors in Ministry: so many and most of them don’t even know it Brent Hazelrigg, Steve Lopp, Linda Stewart, Charles McDade, Kent Epling, and many many more Godly examples have influenced me and showed me what a life of ministry looks like.

Favorite Food: Pioneer Pies, Tuckers, Billy Simms Bbq, Teds
